The call centers in the periphery of Rome are used both as communication and monetary hubs between Western Europe and Central Asia. The undocumented millions of Euros that are earned in the black-market of Italy travel through wire transfers at these respective call centers. The money is predominately supporting local communities in places most westerners are unfamiliar with.
With help from members of the Bangladeshi community in peripheral Rome I commissioned a hole to be dug in the ground in Khulna Bangldesh, a community that directly benefited from their residents work abroad. This hole was presented to an audience in Rome through the photographs pictured above, as well as a live skype feed between Rome and the Bangladeshi family that volunteered to dig the hole.
